My work is a direct reaction to the misrepresentation of my community in both regional and foreign media, and the exploitative craze surrounding it at the moment. With Queer culture and the LGBTQ community on a current revolutionary high in Lebanon and the Middle East, my work documents this pivotal moment in Arab Queer history from the inside of the community, invoking the activists, performers and artists behind this change, as well as non-militant members of the community, as subjects to "tell our own stories". This ongoing work aims to provide truthful documentation from within the community for future generations of LGBTQ individuals living in the Middle East.

The work is a balance between intimate portraiture and event coverage through the use of analog film photography as a means to patiently connect with my subjects and develop intimate relationships with them, as opposed to the fast-paced detachment that can sometimes accompany digital photography.
